WOMEN ARE SO SPECIAL TO GOD.
Scripture shows how women fulfil special purposes for God.
The Psalms read, ‘The King’s daughters are all glorious within.’
Proverbs 31 states, ‘A woman who fears, trusts, relies on the Lord she shall be praised.’ He knows us all by name. Indeed, our names are written on His hands.
God used many women in Scripture. For example in the Old Testament, Miriam brought her mother to nurse Moses in the King’s palace.
Naomi encouraged Ruth, who became the great-grandmother of David.
Esther was challenged with, ‘Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?’ She saved the Jewish people and foiled Haman’s wicked plan to wipe out the entire race.
Hannah, mother of Samuel, gave her treasured son to the Lord.
Rahab hid spies, who had slipped into Jericho. She trusted the Lord to rescue her and her family, becoming the grand mother of Boaz.
Deborah as judge of Israel advised the national leaders.
The New Testament also has some noble women.
The Lord chose the virgin Mary to be the mother of our Lord Jesus.
Mary and Martha of Bethany were close friends of the Lord Jesus, who honoured Martha, telling her firstly that He was the resurrection.
Mary Magdalene met the risen Lord at the tomb, where He directed her to ’Go and tell My disciples that I have risen from the dead.’ God selected a woman to break this sensational news.
While Priscilla and her husband taught Aquila, Priscilla was often named firstly.
Lydia accompanied her maidservant to the riverside to hear Paul teach. When many were converted, she opened her home for Paul to instruct the believers, so commencing the church at Philippi.
Lois and Eunice were the distinguished mother and grand mother of Timothy.
Paul honoured a faithful group of noble women who laboured with Paul in the gospel. Romans 16
