PAID IN FULL. F

Read 1 Corinthians 6:19,20

You are bought with a price, therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. ! Corinthians 6:20 ( KJV )

Meeting two Asian doctors, Lie and Ding, in our local supermarket initiated events. They often visited our home as special friends. But, when the time arrived for them to leave our city, we visited a little restaurant for a farewell treat.

While Harrold showed our friends to their seats, I ordered cakes and coffee, for which I paid. We sat at the table to enjoy a time of friendship and fellowship. We talked of the wonder of God’s love and Jesus’ sacrificial death followed with prayer for our two dear friends, who formerly lived under atheistic control. Too soon came the time to leave the shop, and say good-bye.

As we walked to our car, a waitress ran behind us. With profuse apologies, and then with slight hesitation, she said,

‘Oh, please forgive me – but I am sorry to ask you -= did you pay for the food?’ as she blushed with embarrassment.

Quickly I realised her dilemma. During our hour’s stay, this lady began her duty-shift thus replacing the former attendant to whom I paid the money.

‘Yes, yes,‘ I assured her. ‘I paid the full price to the lady who served me. You can be sure of that. You ask her when she returns for duty. She will remember our Asian friends, whom she kindly served and greeted.’ While this lady accepted my explanation, she continued her apologies.

‘ I am very sorry, but I had to make sure that you paid,’ and we nodded sympathetically as she hurried back to the shop.

However, no money changed hands for the cost of our salvation. Yes, Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. But when the Lord Jesus died on the cross and shed His precious blood, we are sure and certain that He paid the full price for our salvation. The sinless Saviour gave His life on behalf of all sinners, who must turn from wrong and evil, to trust in Jesus.

PRAYER: Thank you, God, that you made the perfect provision for me to enter heaven. Thank You that I am certain of eternal life through the price paid for my sin. Thank You that I may serve You with a clean heart, knowing I am loved and forgiven.
