NOAH, THE MAN WHO BUILT A BOAT.
Although Noah was an old man,
Noah was God’s choice
To preach to all the people,
As though it were God’s voice.
God told His faithful servant
The people must repent
And leave their very wicked ways,
Or flood would surely be sent.
Of course, no-one believed Noah
Nor thought that God would send
A flood to drown the people
Who lived inside the land.
Soon Noah started to build a boat
His sons, too, helped their Dad.
For Noah knew the flood would come,
Just as his God had said.
The people laughed and teased him,
Faithfully, Noah laboured on,
He told the wicked people
They would be punished before long.
Although it took one-twenty years ( 120) ,
Before the work was done,
Noah called for his family,
And took them all along.
Of every kind of animal and bird
Noah took in last,
And when each one entered the ark,
God shut the door quite fast.
Suddenly down poured torrents of rain
Upon the wicked land.
It rained and kept on raining
Till no-one was able to stand.
The rain continued falling
For forty days and nights,
So that many of the people
Felt sorry for their ways.
They knew it was too late then
As they remembered Noah’s word,
They wished they had repented
When Noah’s warning they first heard.
While Noah sailed in safety
Inside the ark so strong,
The wicked and the scornful
Were drowned before very long.
Now when the flood was over,
And the water drained away,
Noah and his family
Stepped from the ark to pray.
They all stood by a pile of stones,
With a lamb for sacrifice.
They prayed and thanked their Father God,
And praise echoed from each voice.
While the family was standing there,
A seven-coloured rainbow arched the sky.
It was God’s promise to trust Him,
That a world-flood never again would destroy.
Now when you see the rainbow
Just think of our God above,
Who has to punish wickedness,
But longs to shower us with love.
So turn from any sinful acts,
And live for God each day.
And trust in Jesus Christ the Lord,
And always walk in His way.
