THREE BRAVE BOYS
Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego
Were three strong, brave young men.
When Nebuchadnezzars idol was built
They refused to bow down when
The king gave the order for all
To worship the idol he had made.
So the king ordered the three be thrown in the fire
Because they had not obeyed.
But Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego
Feared no-one but their God.
Although they were thrown into that fire
The boys were not afraid.
Our God is able to deliver us
In faith and trust they said.
When suddenly before the peoples eyes
Another figure appeared.
The people marvelled at this awesome sight
At seeing four men in the fire
With great surprise that no-one was harmed
Which forced the king to enquire.
He ordered the release of the three brave boys
For he wished to know who stood
In the fire with Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego
Who joyfully answered, It is our Lord.
Maybe you face something where you feel afraid
Or some action that seems too hard.
Perhaps its not easy with your friends at school
Yet to be their friends youd be glad.
Well, ask the Lord to help you when
There are difficult things to do,
And like these three cool boys in the fire,
The Lord will be there to help you.
Read this courageous story in Daniel Chapter 3. You will understand how bravely Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego loved God. Amid all the loud music, shouting and noise, the people worshipped the golden idol, which could neither hear nor see. How sad. Our God hears us when we pray, and cares for us.
How would you behave when everyone else bowed to the idol? Would you go with the crowd, or honour God? Although the three young men were thrown into the fire, they knew that as they obeyed God, He promised to be with them and rescue them.
What lessons can you learn from this exciting story?
Verses to help you know that God is always with you.
