WHY BREAST CANCER IS MALICIOUS. A biblical stance.

Jacob gathered his sons to his side , saying ‘ The God of your fathers will help you with ‘blessings of heaven above; blessings of the deep that lies beneath; blessings of the breasts and of the womb’, ( Genesis 49: 25), linking heaven’s glory and the deep things of the Lord with the blessings from the nurture of the breasts and the reproductive life.   God’s word unashamedly discusses these blessings.

Solomon wrote of the emotional closeness of married love, setting God’s seal on this holy oneness; and affirming the union of Christ with His true church as His bride.  He wrote, ’This stature of your’s is like a palm tree and your breasts like its clusters. ( 7:7)

The palm tree is structured so orderly, that he further added, ‘ I will go up to the palm tree and take hold of its branches.’  That is , he will enjoy the God-given beauty of  his beloved’s breasts.

He continued in (7:8) ‘ Let now your breasts be like clusters of the vine,’ liking the beauty of  blended grapes with the life-giving, supporting breasts.  Christ later showed how ‘I am the true Vine’ and from the crushing of the clustered grapes, flowed  the  grape juice ( that is, non-alcoholic ) representing the shedding of His precious life-blood.  The deepest truth of Calvary was linked with marital intimacy. These are the Holy Spirit’s examples, from which , in mock modesty, we have withdrawn our comment.

Dr Joe Devadatta, one of India’s brilliant surgeons, and able Bible teachers, taught the meaning of El Shaddai , as ‘the breasted One’.  That is, the believer’s spiritual life  flowed from  God as its source.  This is not a feminist approach. We must regain the Bible’s holy concepts, from which we have retreated.

God gave rich blood and nerve supply to the breast and nipple, the erection of which isa prelude to love-making.  God gave womanhood this initiative in considering sexual oneness, knowing that her body was prepared for union with her husband.  The wife has the exclusive right to invite her husband to enjoy her breasts, and not squander them on another.  They speak an intimate language, only learned in loving embrace., and understood by husband and wife enjoying such closeness.

Solomon in Proverbs 5:19 counselled wisely ,’Let her breasts satisfy you at all times.’

‘And always be enraptured with her love.’  God planned romance and beauty in this relationship from eternity.  So He directed the godly husband; however, Solomon strayed, opening  his heart firstly to the princess of Egypt and many other strange women. The truth of God stands firmly, even though denied by this once-inspired writer.  Our Creator Father has endowed womanhood with breasts, so fulfilling all the longing of her husband.

‘Why give your breasts to another?’ or ‘why should you be enraptured by an immoral woman, and be embraced in the arms of a seductress? ‘  Our   God justly asks’Why?’, when He ordained them to be an unlimited  reservoir of blessing and delight.

Rejoicing in God’s gift to her, the woman of the Song of Solomon cried, ‘ I am a wall.  My breasts are like towers.  Then I became in His eyes as one who found peace.’ ( 8:10)  God’s word warns of adultery and the wrong use of the beauty He had given, ‘ They committed prostitution in their youth, as their breasts were embraced. Their virgin bosom was there pressed.’ ( Ezekiel 23:3)  The devil stirs women to reveal their breasts, so offering themselves promiscuously.  God hates such exhibitionism.

God had created womanhood perfectly until sin entered and ruined His workmanship. In breast malignancy, the cells  degenerate,  so destroying their cell-to-cell communication and confusing information of the DNA and RNA., while  invading healthy tissues.  As Hiroshima obliterated life in that city, so some sinister force changed the nature of the cells. Time ( 18 February 2002 )states, ‘ A few cells start accumulating genetic mistakes that cause them to grow abnormally.’  When a woman’s life is so imperilled,  a mammogram will confirm the diagnosis, permittimg  the surgeon or chemotherapist  to direct the whole programme.

Chuck Colson in ‘How now shall we now live?’ told how each body cell has more information than 3 volumes of the entire Encyclopaedia Brittanica.  The information has been dispersed. The original cells have changed to cells of ruin and possible doom , each with their DNA and RNA perpetuating their insidious, disseminating influence.

Deuteronomy is Israels’ charter for obedience as in the first 14 verses of the 28th   chapter.  However,  the remaining 54 verses tell of the curses of disobedience from a just and  holy God to His rebellious children. This principle follows through the entire bible, where God enriches His obedient children, and rightly rebukes,  chastises or punishes  those who defy HIM.  In Romans we read that ‘All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death, but( joyfully ) the gift of God is eternal life.

The Bible principle applied to womanhood generally, and not to any woman in particular.  Many beautiful, godly women suffer from this disease, as well as those who know not their God. No godly woman should suffer false guilt when suffering from this disease. Do not listen to the devil with his unjust accusation. Rather, trust  your Lord.

Our Creator God designed the breast and nipple as the baby’s life-line, until aged nine to twelve months; varying with some national groups where the mother may suckle her child for several years.  However, malignant changes stop the flow of milk, and surgical removal of the lump or the entire breast itself  may cut off the stream.  God said to Eve that ‘In the day you eat thereof you shall surely die.’ What a price for womanhood ( in general ) to pay for disobedience.

A whimpering babe or a crying child is comforted when held to the mother’s breast.  God intended that the gentleness and smoothness of this organ should be a refuge for a restless one. Some cancers are painless, while a cancerous growth may be so tender  that the mother is denied cuddling her little one.  This sorrow frustrates the mother,  longing to console her little one.

Paul explained the origin of  death in Adam and Life in Christ in that amazing Romans chapter 5 . In verse 10, he wrote,’ If when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more having been reconciled, we shall be saved through His life.’ If our Lord  reconciles enemies, how much more can He bring enduring justice through cancer.  We have the hope of  eternal life beyond this earthly span. Christ rose from the dead; and is alive for ever.

Adam and Eve were implicated when he wrote,’ As through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, for all have sinned.’ (v12).  All malignant processes originated from the FALL as a spiritual judgment. The earlychapters of Genesis are our foundational truth.

Prostatic cancer in man is prevalent in Australia, and must be diagnosed early for treatment and hope of healing.  One dear friend, a mighty man of prayer, whose strong cries to God will ever be remembered, went to be with his Lord after fighting this cancer. I held his feeble hand and whispered a prayer as he passed from this life into the majestic Presence of His Lord. In prostatic and breast cancer, some godly men and women are afflicted.  None of the human family is exempt.

Paul continued positively, ‘ The free gift is not like the offence.  For if by one man’s offence, many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of  the one Man, Jesus Christ abounded to many. ( v15)   Lest we be overwhelmed in such an affliction, we must rest in the unfathomable grace of God.

‘Those who receive abundance of grace,’ He continued, ‘and of the gift of righteousness, will reign in life through the ONE, Jesus Christ.  God intended victory, whether He allows progressive physical deterioration or grants marvellous restoration.  Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,’ was God’s tender word. .

Paul climaxed this majestic truth, ‘ As sin reigned in death, even so grace should reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. ( v21)  The ultimate outcome of sin was death.  Under the reign of grace, our Lord Jesus gives eternal life.

Marie had been warned that her breast cancer had advanced to the liver, which  reduced her life expectancy.  When the elders anointed her with oil, and prayed in the Name of the Lord, He had  healed her. Her doctor could find no trace of malignancy.

Julie had a large lump in her breast.  She had been diagnosed with breast cancer with spread to the liver and possibly some bones.  She has been anointed and prayed for by her elders.  Her therapy continues as her progress is assessed.  While surgery had been delayed, she continued caring for her family, trusting the Lord for His healing grace, awaiting all the resources that the modern hospital can provide.  Our God provided a prayerful, sympathetic supervisor; and praying friends around the world.

Unsuspecting, Dianne was shaken when the routine Mammogram showed cancer in her left breast. Painstakingly examining her right breast, and overwhelmed, they discovered cancer also.  We prayed together, her faith strong, as she looked unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of her faith. She accepted Surgery on both breasts as essential, having an excellent convalescence.  Then the months of  chemotherapy , losing her treasured locks of hair.  Her husband cherished her, while her family tended her.  Healed, restored, her vigour regained, she effectively serves her Lord .

Tricia was devastated when she knew that the diagnosis made surgery inevitable.

She and her husband were professional, and they had nurtured their children .  Years on Tricia is healthy, their intimate life preserved, their witness for our Lord is profound.

Only our Shepherd Saviour can guard womanhood during the unsettling phases of discovery of breast cancer, the medical confirmation, surgery, chemotherapy, counselling, care of husband and children.  The months and years of waiting prove the strength of personal faith in the Lord.  Misunderstanding may arise when even close friends nervously avoid meeting, or flippantly greet you, or advise you unwisely.  Dear friends in Christ Jesus will understandingly welcome, embrace and lovingly assure you.

There will be no breast cancer in the resurrection.. No more mammograms or surgery or chemotherapy or radiotherapy in heaven: or heartache or tears, for it is written, ‘ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.’  ( Rev 21:4)  No more scars, nor breast reconstructions.  'Unto Him who loved us and washed us from our sins' will flood heaven's music hall.

Our resurrection body will be complete and perfect, for we shall be like HIM, for we shall see HIM as HE is.
