Name of Christ above every Name Phil 2:9
God also has highly exalted Him ( v9 )as the Father justly responded to His dear Sons shameful death on the cross. He did not leave Him in the grave. He raised Him from the dead. He did not allow His Sons body to perish. He raised it unspoilt.
The Father resurrected His beloved One, stirring and surprising His followers for 40 days.. He highly exalted Him as He once spoke to more than 500 believers. He visited His 11 disciples and appeared to individuals, such as those on the Emmaus Road, and to Mary, weeping that her Lord.had been stolen from the grave.
The Father honoured His Son further in sending a delegation of angels to escort Him back to the throne room of the universe heaven itself. Acts 2:9 reveals that while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud ( of angels ) received Him out of their sight The angels who chorused at the birth of the Saviour, were now despatched to escort the triumphant Son of God to heaven. No mention of their song, but presumably all the universe extolled the Son for the greatest triumph of eternity.
The Father God further elevated His distinguished Son in placing Him at His right hand, reserved for the all-conquering generals. Ephesians 1: 20 recorded
that He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places. Contrast this with His self-emptying in the cross. The Father could not have honoured His Son beyond the right hand of the majesty in the heavens. Joseph was given this superlative position alongside Pharoah, while Mordecai likewise was led through the city decorated as the one whom the king delighted to honour. God was consistent in conferring such accolades on His Son. How He deserved it.
And gave Him a name above every name,as the Father showed to the world that His beloved son, in Whom He was well-pleased at His baptism and later at His transfiguration, was worthy of a higher title. Isaiah had prophesied that His Name should be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Prince of Peace, The mighty God, the everlasting Father ( Isaiah 9:6 ). His death and resurrection demanded that a supreme Name be conferred upon our dear Lord. John wrote in the Revelation 19::12 He had a Name written, King of Kings, Lord of Lords.
At the name of Jesus. Every knee shall bow showed how powerful was the Name given by the angel, mocked by men, yet feted by the Father. The Word of God powerfully described how every creature must willingly or unwillingly bend at the feet of this Conqueror Jesus. The blatant mocker in life must submit to the authority of that precious Name. Dont allow any to take that Name lightly or blaspheme it..
Every tongue will confess that He is Lord restrained the blasphemers from their unworthy insults. The dying thief recognised His lordship. The Roman centurion confronted the religious people with Truly this Man was the Son of God..
Saul the arch-persecutor fell at His feet en route to Damascus, claiming. Lord, what will you have me to do? Such a dramatic fulfilment of holy Scripture.
To the glory of God the Father was the concluding purpose of the Trinity in the death and raising of Christ and His supreme elevation in heaven. The Son endured the shame ( the agony and rejection of the cross ) but God brought the ultimate glory.
