The bible refutes the da Vinci code author for claiming that the Son of God had children from union with Mary Magdalene. God's Word clearly rubbishes that.
When the Lord Jesus went through every city and village preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the Kingdom of God, the twelve disciples were with Him. In their company were 'certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities- Mary called Magdalene, out of who had come seven demons.' Other notable godly women were present; Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others who ministered to Him from their substance.'

Noble women sustained the Lord Jesus in His itinerant ministry of preaching and healing. The Bible does not tell what demons the Lord released from Mary Magdalene, but she assisted the pure-hearted women tending to every need of the Lord and His disciples. Oswald J. Smith suggested they were lust, lasciviousness, fornication, and adulterous demons, but the Lord opened a holy life for her: not an immoral one. From a lifetime in family medicine, I treated chaste women who had been immoral, and like Mary Magdalene, served the Lord, their closely-knit families, (some distinguished) and the church after Christ had transformed them.

Mary is next reported at the devastating crucifixion of our Lord Jesus. When her Lord breathed His last, the veil of the temple was in tatters, the centurion claiming 'Truly this Man was the Son of God.' Scripture told of the holy women present. 'There were also women from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, the Younger, and of Joses and Salome, who also followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women, who came up with Him to Jerusalem' (Mark 15: 39). With the crucifixion of her Rescuer, Mary Magdalene was broken-hearted. She accompanied godly women, named in the scriptures, observing where His body was laid, and planning to anoint His body.

Searching for her now dead Liberator, 'On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb (John 20;1). As an energetic woman, 'running to and coming to Simon Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved', she said to him, 'They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid HIM.' She revealed to these leaders that the tomb was empty.

The Father sent messengers from heaven to the tomb, whee 'Mary stood outside weeping, and as she wept, ( eyes were tear-stained ) she stooped down and looked into the tomb and she saw two angels in white, sitting at the head and the other at the feet where the body of Jesus had lain. They address her, 'Woman, why are you weeping?' She showed her deep regard for Him 'They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him' (v11). He was her Lord, and she was His by redemption. Just as you and I are as believers.

Then Mary Magdalene actually saw the risen Christ standing there and did not know it was Jesus.' No fiction writer would dare write this: The Spirit of God reported this. She supposed Him to be the gardener, saying, 'Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him.' Then the bombshell when,' Jesus spoke, 'Mary'. She turned and said to Him, Rabboni, (Teacher). Jesus said to her understandably,' Do not touch ( or cling ) to me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren, and say to them ,' I AM ( He declares His Deity as Jehovah ) ascending to My Father and your Father and to My God and your God.' (v17) Mary must follow her Lord not by natural senses, sight, sound or touch, but be related closely to her eternal Father. We too must learn this. Sexual union of Christ and this saved woman as in the da Vinci code is a monstrous, false distortion.

With strong character and deep convictions, 'Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord , and that he had spoken these things to her,'
V18. She prepared them for the mind-boggling appearance of the risen Christ while they slunk behind closed doors for fear of the Jews.

Our resurrected Lord chose to appear first to Mary Magdalene, (Mark 16:9) reminding us that 'He had cast out seven devils' from her life. He chose her above His disciples, and godly leaders in Jerusalem. Why? The power, with which He freed her from demonic forces, was the same, which raised Him from the dead. He does not refer to any relationship above the spiritual one as Redeemer and Mary, the redeemed. Only perverted imagination could propose otherwise.

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were important players in the resurrection scene as in Matthew 28. They came to the tomb; and were shaken as 'Behold, there was a great earthquake for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door and sat upon it. The angel gently calmed them, 'Do not be afraid for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He continued, 'He is not here for He is risen as He said. Come. See the place where the Lord lay. God trusted these two women with the important message, 'Go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead and indeed He is going before you into Galilee. There you will see Him. Behold I have told you.'

'So they departed quickly from the tomb with understandable fear and great, undeniable joy and ran to bring His disciples word. 'And as they (obediently) went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, 'Rejoice!' And they came and held Him by the feet, and worshipped Him. His final words to them were, 'Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and they will see Me.'

Paul wrote, 'I am jealous over you with godly jealousy. I have betrothed you to one husband (Our beloved Saviour). ' He will gather His bride out of every kindred, tribe, tongue and people, singing 'Worthy is the Lamb who was slain. The writer of the da Vinci code rejected the church as the spiritual bride of our triumphant Lord and Saviour. WE rejoice in our glorious oneness with our risen, conquering Lord.
